NORTH GEORGIA DEAD DEER PICK-UP – DEER CARCASS REMOVAL
North Georgia has an abundance of deer, and while they are beautiful animals, they can also create unexpected problems. During mating season and peak traffic times, deer are more likely to be injured or killed. When this happens on private property, it becomes the homeowner’s responsibility to deal with the carcass. Our Dead Deer Removal Service is designed to make that process easy. We offer fast, discreet, and affordable pickup — often the same day you call, and even if you are not home.
We regularly receive calls from some of the largest and most deer-prone communities in North Georgia, including Big Canoe, Achasta, and Chestatee in the north, Bentwater, Bridgemill, and Governor’s Towne Club to the west, and central neighborhoods like Windward, The Manor, Country Club of the South, St. Ives, Seven Oaks, Rivermoore Park, Laurel Springs, and Polo Golf & Country Club. To the east, communities such as Sugarloaf Country Club, St. Marlo, and Edinburgh/Bears Best also report frequent deer incidents. Homeowners in these subdivisions count on us for quick response, discreet service, and fair pricing when they need a dead deer removed from their property.

PLEASE NOTE: If the deer is still alive, injured, or suffering, call your local non-emergency police department or animal control agency. Ask them to send the proper authority to assess the situation. We do not dispatch live deer. Once the animal has passed or has been handled by the proper authority, we can schedule carcass pickup.
OPTION #1 – PRIVATE PROPERTY
If the deer carcass is on private property, such as your yard, driveway, fenced area, HOA common area, rental property, business property, pool area, pond, creek, or wooded lot, removal is usually the property owner’s responsibility.
Cities and counties typically limit removal to public roads, rights-of-way, and public property. Sending government crews onto private land can create access, liability, staffing, insurance, and taxpayer-cost concerns. That is why most local agencies do not remove deer from private property.
If the carcass is on your property and you do not want to handle it yourself, we can provide fast, discreet private-property deer carcass pickup. In many cases, you do not need to be home as long as the deer is safely accessible and we have permission to enter the property.
OPTION #2 – PUBLIC PROPERTY
If the deer carcass is on a public road, public shoulder, city street, county road, right-of-way, sidewalk, park area, or other public property, removal is handled by the city, county, or state agency responsible for that location and is free to the public.
Every area handles public-property animal removal differently. Some cities or counties may send a road crew or public works department. Others may require a service request through a website, 311 system, non-emergency number, animal control office, sanitation department, or county road department. In some areas, smaller dead animals may need to be bagged and placed at the curb before pickup, while large animals such as deer may follow
To help North Georgia residents, we created city-specific pages with the public-property reporting information we were able to verify, including agency names, phone numbers, reporting links, and local instructions where available. Click your city’s page in the menu to find guidance for your area.
Public removal is free when the deer is located on public property, but response times vary by city, county, state agency, road department workload, and exact location. The information on our city pages is provided as a helpful starting point. Local procedures can change, so for the most accurate instructions, contact the city, county, or state agency listed for your area.

FREQUENTLY ASKED DEAD DEER REMOVAL QUESTIONS:
Who is responsible for removing a deer carcass — me, the city, or the county?
It depends on where the deer is located. If the carcass is on private property, such as your yard, driveway, fenced area, wooded lot, HOA common area, rental property, or business property, removal is usually the property owner’s responsibility. If the deer is on a public road, shoulder, or right-of-way, the city, county, or Georgia DOT may handle removal depending on the location. Public road removal may be free, but response times vary.
What should I do if the deer is injured or still alive?
If the deer is still alive, injured, or suffering, call your local non-emergency police department, animal control, or the proper local authority. We do not dispatch live deer. Once the deer has passed or has been handled by the proper authority, we can schedule carcass pickup.
How much does deer carcass removal cost?
Pricing depends on your location, the size and condition of the deer, and how difficult it is to access. A deer in an open yard or driveway is usually easier to remove than one in a pool, pond, creek, fence line, steep hill, thick woods, or hard-to-reach area. Call with the location and situation, and we will give you clear pricing before pickup.
How fast can you pick it up?
Same-day or next-day pickup is often available depending on your location and our schedule. Calling earlier in the day gives you the best chance of faster service. Warm weather, odor, flies, and scavengers can make the situation worse quickly, so it is best to call as soon as you notice the carcass.
Do I have to be home for pickup?
Usually, no. If the carcass is outside and we can safely access it, you do not normally need to be home. Many customers tell us where the deer is located, send a photo if needed, and we remove it while they are away. After pickup, we can send a digital invoice.
Can you remove a deer from a pool, pond, fence, creek, or wooded area?
Yes, we handle many difficult pickup situations when the deer is safely accessible. We regularly receive calls for carcasses near fences, in wooded areas, near creeks or drainage areas, down embankments, and around pools or ponds. Difficult access may affect the price because it can require more time, labor, or equipment.
Can I move the deer myself or drag it to the road?
You can choose to handle removal yourself on your own property, but most homeowners do not want to deal with the weight, odor, fluids, insects, and disposal concerns. Do not dump a carcass on public property, another person’s land, or along a roadway. If you are not sure what to do, call before moving it.
Why should I remove it quickly?
A deer carcass can begin to smell quickly, especially in warm North Georgia weather. It can also attract flies, vultures, coyotes, dogs, and other scavengers. The longer it sits, the more unpleasant and difficult the removal can become. Fast pickup helps reduce odor, insect activity, and unwanted wildlife around your property.
Do you pick up deer from HOAs, golf communities, rental homes, and commercial properties?
Yes. We provide pickup for homeowners, HOAs, neighborhood common areas, golf communities, rental homes, vacant properties, businesses, and managed properties. If the carcass is accessible and the property owner or manager authorizes removal, we can usually help.
